Hi everyone,
Just a note to let you know that there is a replacement design for download on the page describing the Crocheted Lady #1.
If you own the set and haven't sewn it yet, only the bottom half had the patterned edge on it.
Please discard the original design and replace it with this one.
I do apologize for any problems this may have caused.
For those of you who haven't purchased Crocheted Lady #1, Belle, this is a chance to try a sample of the set.
Method I use for Hooping
- Hoop a double layer of Aqua Magic nice and tight.
- Spray with KK2000
- Smooth the fabric you will be using to sew the design on into position on the Aqua Magic.
Threads you can use...
- Actually, both of the sew-outs I have pictured are sewn with a combination of these two threads.
- The weight of the thread makes the design stand up beautifully.
- You can sew it with 30 weight cotton or 30 weight rayon too.
- Just remember to put in a size 90/14 or a 100/16 topstitching needle and raise the upper tension a little to make the heavier thread sew better.
- And…DON’T FORGET TO CLIP YOUR THREADS BETWEEN COLORS.
- You will be thrilled with the results when you take this little extra bit of time.
Ways to Use the Design
Method #1
- The design can be sewn as a doily with a free standing edge...
- The first color is gray, You're not really meant to sew it with gray...
- It's just a way for the machine to stop so you can trim away the excess fabric.
- Put the color in that you will be sewing the entire edge with...
- After the machine stitches around 2 times, trim very close to the edge of the fabric and continue with the colors in the way that they are listed.
- When you are finished, wash out the stabilizer and use your “doily” as a gift for a friend…gather it in the center and hand tack it to a clip used for hair barrettes.
Method #2
- The design can be sewn as an applique...
- Hoop the fabric you are going to sew the appliqué to…this would be your garment, your pillowtop…etc.
- Lay the fabric you want to use as the appliqué on top of the hooped fabric.
- The first color is gray…you're not really meant to sew it with gray...it's just a way for the machine to stop so you can trim away the fabric.
- Put the color in that you will be sewing the entire edge with...
- After the machine stitches around 2 times and stops…
- Trim very close to the outside edge of the appliqué fabric and continue with the colors in the way that they are listed or your own chosen colors.
Method #3
- Use it as a design for a pillow front.
- I sewed the design this way and when it finished sewing, I embroidered an initial in the center.
- Beautiful!
