Lets talk about …I Can’t Believe it’s a Sweatshirt!…

Oh no, not another sweatshirt book!  It seems like everyone who has ever written any type of sewing manual, eventually gets around to writing a book about modifying sweatshirts.  Well, I guess it’s my turn now.

Over the past eighteen years, I have created many, many sweatshirt modifications.  I’ve sewed them up, cut them off, chopped them up, slit them, zippered them, appliquéd them, gathered them, ruffled them, buttoned them, decorated them, embroidered them, cut-worked them, and now...I am putting the best of them into this first book. 

How in the world did I come up with the name of this book...You guessed it!  When people see the garments I have made...the one thing they always say is… “I can’t believe it’s a sweatshirt!” 

As I have been traveling the country teaching seminars, so many of you have asked me to write a book about my methods for modifying sweatshirts.  Even I thought…“There’s so many on the market, would another one really find a home among all the others?”  So many of you have issued a resounding, “Yes!”  As I’ve given some sneak peaks at the growing amount of projects from this book, I have to say that I believe you.  I have never seen so much excitement generated by sample garments.   So...I am happy to be able to bring you my methods.

Within these pages, you will find many new and innovative ways to redefine the sweatshirt.  They have been turned into all kinds of jackets and cardigans, a crop top, and a sweatshirt shawl that will keep you warm on those cold nights at the football games.  You will find many new types of embellishment ideas and techniques.  I’m sure there is just the right project for you or your next gift idea!  If my sneak peaks are an indication of the versatility of the garments, all age groups will love them.
